sunrise

"every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. it knows that it must outrun the fastest lion or it will die.

every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. it knows that it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve.

it doesn’t matter if you are a lion or a gazelle. when the sun comes up, you better be running."

and that's true in the big city. and it's true in the global playground as well nowadays. it's true of the pace of life, and it's true in terms of competition. sometimes you see the lion running behind you and yourself as a gazelle, or you see yourself as a lion going for "someone else's" position, job, priviledge etc. sometimes competition is indirect. you don't see it. but you sense it, it's there, everywhere around you (like the matrix :p). some people can't live with this feeling, and some people can't live without it. they need the tension, the race, the adrenaline. even if it kills them in the end (instead of the lion), they still need it. competition is a human fabrication more than it is an instict, but we have made it essential to our lives and being.

i still haven't decided whether i like it or not. i know i should probably like it, because i am a lion. and i know i can do well, living in this pace. but i am still not convinced if this is what i want in life. i guess london is the first real test for me in that aspect. and honestly, i am not stressed about it at all. it's because it's a test of what i like and not a test of what i can do.
