flight BA 631

this one has got to be a classic. someone typing their blog posting at the airport, to post upon arrival to the final destination. you see, wireless internet is not free at the athens airport.

and so the story goes. i had a blast in greece the past 10 days. so many people and things i didn’t realise i had missed while in london for the past 4 months. you only realise when you go back home how much you miss it – even me, infamous for being detached from family and friends. and today it’s time to go back to london again, so by the time you are reading these lines I am already at my london home.

my flight was originally planned for 8:15 am. i woke up 45 minutes later than planned (5:30), as i didn’t hear the alarm clock go off, but luckily my sister did. rushed to call a cab and out of home, only to stand in queue for more than an hour and a half and be informed that my flight is delayed for 12 noon. it’s now 9 am and i am at an airport café, still can’t see the planes parked outside, because of the fog, which is the reason for the delay. that’s good preparation for the winter ahead, makes the transition to the london weather rougher but more realistic.

not much to do now. i guess the next hours will be spent reading, as i already did my usual airport shopping: sweets for the office, cigarettes, a bottle of wine, 2 ties and a pair of cuff links. see, you always get a second chance. i went shopping for the same things yesterday downtown athens, but instead i bought 3 books and an umbrella. so much for consistency. all of them are gonna be useful down the line anyways.

in a way it’s like moving to london for the second time now. 10 days away are enough to make you think you don’t really live there. to reconsider. to make new plans, dreams and figure out new ways to spend your time aside from work, in a winter without sunlight.

strangely enough, i am looking forward to it.
