istanbul / κωνσταντινούπολη

it's been a little over a week since i am back from that amazing city. the city a lot of people through the ages have been passionate and fought about. the city that stands between europe and asia. a giant and a beauty, at the same time. the city my grandfather was born in, 100 years ago. istanbul.

it was only a 3-4 day trip, which leaves me with only positive impressions and memories. walking down sultanahmet. visiting Agia Sofia. going for a hammam. eating mezes in the little streets around istiklal. walking around the spice market. seeing the blue mosque. having turkish coffee on the galata bridge. recognising familiar words here and there, words which have now been absorbed in the greek language. meeting old [and good] friends. seeing a bit of the nightlife. nargile at top hane. seeing the view at night from the top of the marmara hotel in taksim. sensing so much tradition and history in the air, in a modern, crowded city full of young, energetic and friendly people.

this city you only have to promise one thing to: return.
